World Sleep Day is held annually by the World Sleep Day Committee of the World Sleep Society. This year it will be held on Friday the 19th of March and will mark the 14th annual World Sleep Day event.
We spend a third of our lives sleeping and sometimes the importance of this can be majorly overlooked. You should aim to get around 7-8 hours of sleep a day, however in reality many of us do not. This World Sleep Day, educate yourself on the benefits of sleep to your overall health and learn more about why we need it.
World Sleep Day is a celebration and global call-to-action about the importance of healthy sleep and the positive impact it can have on your health and wellbeing. This day brings together researchers, health professionals and people who suffer from sleep disorders to recognise the importance of sleep and the burdens that sleep problems have. It aims to spread awareness about the importance of sleep in achieving optimal quality of life.
Sleep is a vital part of our lives, without a regular decent amount of sleep, our bodies and minds are largely affected. Around 70 countries celebrate World Sleep Day with the goal to raise awareness about sleep.
World Sleep Day coincides with National Sleep Awareness Week which is held from March 14-20, 2021. National Sleep Awareness Week aims to do the same in raising awareness about the importance of sleep and the impact it can have.
The Slogan for World Sleep Day 2021 is, ‘Regular Sleep, Healthy Future’, and is focused on the benefits regular sleep has to our overall health. It connects the importance of good sleep with exercise and nutrition. Often good sleep is not considered a major factor that affects health, however in fact it should be.
