Sleeping Techniques

06-11-2010

You spend about a third of your life doing it, you would think it wouldn’t be a problem with that much practice, but for many people sleep is elusive. Luckily there are some sleeping techniques that can you to drift off easily.

Have a regular bedtime. It sounds simple and it is, try to go to bed at about the same time every night. Your body works in cycles and it is best to work with your natural cycle rather than against it.

Get up at the same time. Again, this is a very simple method of ensuring that you sleep well. If you get up at wildly different times then you will through your body clock off and as a result, getting to sleep will become more difficult.

Have a routine for when you go to bed. For many people this involves reading a book for a certain time in bed, others will listen to music, while some like to exercise before getting in to bed. Whatever you do, try to stick to it, as this is all part of your mind and body’s preparation for sleep.

Make sure your bedroom is quiet, dark and well ventilated. It is amazing how sensitive you are when you are asleep. Even the smallest thing can disturb your rest. Make sure there are no lights or sounds that could trouble your sleep and ensure there is some fresh air flowing into your room.

By doing all of these sleeping techniques you are doing your best to get a good night’s rest.
