Many people who struggle to sleep want to know what the best time to go to bed is. However, there is not a specific time, say 10.25, that you should go to bed but rather it is more important to keep to a consistent time. What this means is that it is more important to go to bed at the same time every night than it is to go to bed at a specific time.
Your body craves regularity, your sleep is ruled by your body clock and if you respect that and go to bed at around the same time every night then you will help your body to drift off. Before bed each night your body and mind go through a number of physiological changes in preparation for your slumber. The timing of these changes is controlled by your body clock and if you keep to the same routine night after night, then you work with your body, making it easier to fall asleep.
Stick to the same routine each and every night and you will find it easier to fall asleep and you will find it easier to get up in the morning. If you keep changing the time you go to bed then you are fighting your body’s natural rhythm and you will struggle.
