Remember when you were young and you had a night light? Most of us did, the dark is something that many young children fear. It is the unknown, the potential for anything to be lurking in those inky shadows, which frightens young children. Fortunately as we grow older we lose that fear and can sleep with the lights out, which is the way to get the most refreshing and fulfilling sleep, or at least, that is the case for many of us...
Recent research has shown that a surprising number of adults are afraid of the dark, or at least struggle to sleep in a fully darkened room because they have an irrational fear. This fear is something that many of them do not want to talk about in public as it seems so childish, but the real problem is that sleeping in a light room is not conducive to getting a proper night’s sleep.
If you struggle to sleep in a fully darkened room then there are a few things you can do to help. One of the best things to do is to get a night light that has a dimmer on it, each night, you dim the light a little bit more, until you have it off.
It doesn’t matter how long it takes you to get there, it is worth it.
