How to fake a good sleep

26-03-2013

You can fake a lot of things in life, like pretending you are happy with the present someone has given you when really you hate it, but you would not have thought that you could fake sleep... but you can, or at least you can fake feeling more energised if you have had a bad night’s sleep.

Trick one is to expose yourself to as much natural light as possible. Sunshine is how the body synchronises its inner runnings with the outside world and the more bright light you get during the day the more energised your body will feel as it will produce more of the ‘awake’ neurotransmitters.

Trick two is to grab a twenty minute power nap. This is one of the best ways of getting more energy so you can last the day. Make your room dark, let your mind relax and set an alarm, because more than about thirty minutes and you will feel worse waking up.

Trick three is a classic, but with a twist. Everyone knows the power of coffee, but rather than sculling it back you should drink it slowly as that allows the caffeine to have more effect. Drink a few coffees over a few hours and get the most out of your coffee.
