Anyone who has ever suffered from insomnia knows just how much it costs them personally, you only need to spend a night or two lying awake to get an idea of how utterly destructive not sleeping can be to your life, but what about the costs to your workplace and businesses in general. Well, it is not too surprising, but insomnia costs America around 30 BILLION dollars each and every year.
That is right, 30 BILLION. So if you do the math for Australia, dividing the US population of 300 million by our roughly 30, then you will find that insomnia probably costs our country around 3 billion, which is still an staggeringly big number.
The study that found this amount out discovered that between 7 and 10 percent of all workplace mistakes and accidents were caused by insomnia and while some of these were fairly minor, such as sending out a letter to the wrong person, others were far worse, like losing a hand in a piece of machinery.
If you suffer from insomnia then you need to see a sleep expert, someone who can check through your personal history and can offer you tailored advice on how to beat this problem. Don’t let it cost you.
