Not being able to get to sleep at night and waking in the morning feeling tired and scratchy is annoying and if it continues it can become debilitating. People who suffer from sleep disorders often develop a number of different ailments and conditions including depression, anxiety, hallucinations and numerous others problems. An ongoing sleep disorder can ruin a person’s life, overriding any and all other concerns.
Our bodies and minds are complex systems that are affected by a wide variety of internal and external stimuli. Sleep can be affected by a number of different stimuli including diet. What we eat and drink can have major consequences on both the quality and quantity of our sleep. If you are struggling to get to sleep or wake feeling tired, then you should try to change your diet. Look at the various things you eat and drink. Cut out those that interfere with sleep, like caffeine and alcohol, and try to eat and drink more of the food and drinks that help with sleep.
One super sleep food is cereal. Cereal, and other complex carbohydrate rich food, increase the levels of tryptophan in your bloodstream. Tryptophan helps in the production of the brain hormones serotonin and melatonin, both which help regulate the sleep cycle.
