Pregnancy is one of the most important times in a woman’s life. You are carrying your unborn child and while this means it is the most critical time in your life for taking care of yourself, it is also extremely difficult as you go through so many changes both physically and mentally, meaning that you needs change regularly.
One thing many pregnant women struggle with is getting a good night’s sleep. The problem is that most mattress materials become increasingly uncomfortable as the belly gets bigger. The following is a comparison of the two leading mattress materials, analysing how good they are for pregnant women.
Latex is a very common mattress material, though it is not very good for pregnant women. The problem is that latex quickly develops ruts and impressions as it has a porous and easily compressed structure. This means that it forces the sleeper into a particular position. This is bad for pregnant women in particular as they need to be able to move around as much as possible to get comfortable. This is also bad for circulation as it pinches parts of the body.
Memory foam is brilliant for pregnant women because it is heat reactive, meaning that it moulds itself to the sleeper’s exact body shape and position, changing when they move. This provides the pregnant woman with the perfect mix of comfort and support. It is also far better for their circulation.
